Managing Content in Webey

Learn how to manage pages, collections, and media with the publication workflow and block editor.

Webey offers a powerful and flexible content management system that lets you manage all content on your website. From pages and blog articles to knowledge base articles and forms — everything is managed centrally from your dashboard. In this article, you learn how to work effectively with content in Webey.

Page Types and Content Structure

In Webey, you work with different types of content. Standard pages form the foundation of your website: your homepage, about us, contact, and other static pages. Additionally, you can create content collections for dynamic content such as blog articles, knowledge base articles, and more. Each collection has its own fields and display, so your content is optimally structured.

The Publication Workflow

Webey uses a structured publication workflow with three statuses: draft, pending, and approved. When you create a new page, it starts as a draft. Editors can edit content and submit it for review (pending). An admin or owner approves the content, after which it is published. This workflow prevents unfinished or erroneous content from going live.

Creating and Editing Pages

Create a new page via the page overview in your dashboard. Choose a title, set a URL slug, and start adding blocks. The block editor is the heart of Webey: you build pages by dragging and filling in blocks. Each block has its own settings to customize the content and appearance. You can move, duplicate, or delete blocks. Changes are saved immediately.

The Block Editor

The block editor offers over 24 block types for every situation. From a simple text block to complex pricing tables and forms. Blocks are grouped into categories: basic (text, image, button), layout (columns, spacer, divider), media (gallery, video), marketing (hero, CTA, features, testimonials, pricing, stats), and advanced (HTML, code, table, form). Each block is optimized for performance: heavy blocks are lazy-loaded.

Content Collections

Besides pages, you can create content collections for structured, repeating content. A blog is a commonly used collection with fields like title, excerpt, content, author, category, and image. A knowledge base has fields like title, content, category, and icon. You can also create custom collections with self-chosen fields that fit your specific needs.

Media Library

All images and files you upload are stored in the media library. From here, you can reuse media on multiple pages without uploading them again. The media library shows an overview of all your files with previews. Upload images in the right formats (JPEG, PNG, WebP) and give them descriptive filenames for better SEO.

Landing Page Templates

Want to quickly set up a professional page? Webey offers landing page templates for common purposes. The Event template is perfect for promoting events with a hero, speakers, and registration form. The Campaign template is suitable for marketing campaigns with prominent CTAs and social proof. The Thank You template can be used as a confirmation page after a form submission. Each template is fully customizable.

Multilingual Content

Webey supports multilingual websites from the core. Create a translation of an existing page via the page menu. The translated page is automatically linked to the original via the translationOf field. Webey generates the correct hreflang tags so search engines index the language versions correctly. You can see directly in the page overview which pages have already been translated.

Organizing and Finding Content

As your website grows, it becomes important to organize your content well. Use consistent categories and tags to group related content. Give pages descriptive titles and slugs so they are easy to find in the overview. Use the search function in the dashboard to quickly find specific pages or articles. Regularly clean up old drafts that are no longer needed.
