Creating Your First Page in Webey

Learn step by step how to create your first page in Webey: from logging in and adding blocks to SEO settings and publishing.

Congratulations on your new Webey website! In this article, we will guide you step by step through creating your very first page. From logging in to publishing: by the end you will have a fully functional page live on the web.

Step 1: Log In and Open the Dashboard

Navigate to your Webey dashboard and log in with your email address and password. After logging in, you will arrive at the overview screen where you manage all your sites and pages. Click on the site you want to create a page for to go to the site management area.

Step 2: Navigate to the Page Editor

Click on Pages in the left-hand menu. You will see an overview of all existing pages. Click the New page button in the top-right corner to create a new page. You will then be given the choice to start with a blank page or use a template.

Choosing a Blank Page or Template

Webey offers several starting options:

  • Blank page — start from scratch and add blocks yourself. Ideal if you want full control over the layout.
  • Landing page templates — choose from ready-made templates such as Event, Campaign, or Thank You. These templates already contain a logical block structure that you can customize to your liking.

For this guide, we will choose a blank page so you can learn how to add blocks yourself.

Step 3: Add Your First Blocks

The page editor opens with an empty canvas. On the left you will see the blocks panel and on the right the live preview of your page. Let's start with three essential blocks.

Adding a Hero Block

Click the + button to add a new block. Choose Hero from the list of block types. The hero block appears at the top of your page. Click on it to edit:

  • Enter a compelling headline, for example "Welcome to Our Company".
  • Add a subtitle that briefly describes what your business does.
  • Set a background image or choose a background color that matches your brand.
  • Optionally add a call-to-action button, for example "Learn More".

Adding a Text Block

Click the + button again and choose Text. This block is perfect for an introductory text about your company or service. Use the rich text editor to format your text with headings, bold text, and links. Keep paragraphs short and scannable for the best reading experience.

Adding an Image Block

Add a third block: choose Image. Upload an image from your computer or pick one from the media library. Don't forget to fill in an alt text — this is important for accessibility and SEO. Set the desired size and alignment using the settings panel.

Step 4: Set the Page Title and Slug

Click on the Page Settings tab at the top of the editor. Here you configure the most important properties:

  • Page title — the name that appears in the menu and browser tab, for example "About Us".
  • Slug — the URL path of your page, for example about-us. Webey automatically generates a slug based on the title, but you can adjust it manually. Use lowercase letters, no spaces, and hyphens as separators.

Step 5: Preview Your Page

Before publishing, you want to check how the page looks to visitors. Click the Preview button in the top-right corner of the editor. The preview shows your page exactly as visitors will see it, including responsive views for mobile and tablet. Check that all texts are correct, images load properly, and the layout looks clean across different screen sizes.

Step 6: Configure SEO Settings

Good discoverability starts with the right SEO settings. Go to the SEO tab in the page settings and fill in the following fields:

  • Meta title — the title that appears in search results. Keep it under 60 characters and make it descriptive and compelling.
  • Meta description — a brief summary of the page content (maximum 160 characters). This is the text snippet that Google shows below the title in search results.

Webey automatically generates an XML sitemap and robots.txt, so your new page will be included automatically once you publish.

Step 7: Publish

When you are happy with the content, click Publish. In Webey, a page goes through the status workflow draftpendingapproved. Depending on your role (owner, admin, editor, or viewer), you can either publish the page directly or submit it for approval. Owners and admins can approve and publish pages immediately.
