Managing Pages in Webey

Learn how to create, edit, duplicate, and reorder pages. Discover the status workflow and navigation settings.

Pages are the foundation of your website. In Webey, you manage all your pages from a central overview. You can create, edit, duplicate, delete, and reorder pages. In this article, we walk you through all the page management features.

The Page Overview

After opening your site, you will see the page overview in the dashboard. Here you find a list of all your pages with their title, slug, status, and last edited date. Use the search function to quickly find a specific page. The overview also shows the current status of each page: draft, pending, or approved.

Creating a New Page

Click the "New page" button to add a blank page. Give the page a title — Webey automatically generates a slug (URL path) based on the title. You can manually adjust the slug if you want a shorter or different URL. After creating, you are taken directly to the editor where you can start adding blocks.

Page Types

Webey supports different page types. Standard pages can be freely built with blocks. Additionally, you can create special pages linked to content types, such as a blog list page or a knowledge base page. These pages automatically display items from the associated collection.

Page Settings

Every page has settings accessible via the settings menu in the editor. Here you can configure the following:

  • Page title — the title that appears in the browser tab and search results
  • Slug — the URL path of the page (for example, /about-us)
  • Meta description — the description that appears in search results
  • Open Graph image — the image shown when sharing on social media

Always pay attention to SEO settings. A good meta title and description significantly improve your findability in search engines.

Adjusting Page Order

The order of your pages determines how they appear in the navigation menu. In the page overview, you can change the order by dragging pages to the desired position. The top page in the list is also the page shown first in the menu.

Duplicating Pages

Want to use a page as a basis for a new one? Use the duplicate function in the page's context menu. A copy is made with all blocks and settings. The copy automatically receives a new slug to avoid conflicts. This is useful when you need multiple similar pages, such as landing pages for different campaigns.

Deleting Pages

You delete a page via the context menu in the page overview. Note: deletion is permanent. Before deleting a page, check whether there are any internal links pointing to it. If you want to temporarily hide a page, it is better to set the status to draft instead of deleting it.

The Status Workflow: Draft, Pending, Approved

Webey uses a three-part status workflow to ensure content quality:

  • Draft — the page is being edited and is not visible to visitors. Editors can work freely without unfinished content going live.
  • Pending — the editor has marked the page as ready for review. An admin or owner can review the page and provide feedback.
  • Approved — the page has been approved and published. Visitors can see the page on your website.

This workflow is especially valuable when working with a team. Editors create content and set it to "pending." Admins review the content and approve or reject it with feedback. This way, you maintain control over what gets published on your website.

Setting Up the Navigation Menu

You configure your website's navigation menu in the site settings. You decide which pages appear in the menu and in what order. Not every page needs to be in the menu — you often want to keep landing pages or thank-you pages out of the menu. Drag pages to the desired position in the menu.

Linking Pages in the Menu

In addition to internal pages, you can also add external links to the navigation menu. This is useful when you want to link to an external platform, a webshop, or a booking system. Each menu item can have a label that differs from the page title, so you have short, concise menu items.

Setting the Homepage

In the site settings, you determine which page is your homepage. This page is displayed when visitors access your domain name without a path. You can change the homepage at any time by designating a different page as the homepage.

404 Page

When a visitor accesses a URL that does not exist, Webey automatically displays a 404 page. This page lets the visitor know that the requested page was not found and provides a link back to the homepage. A clear 404 page prevents frustration and helps visitors navigate back.

Tips for Good Page Management

  • Use clear, descriptive slugs — /services is better than /page-3
  • Keep the number of pages in your navigation menu limited to 5–7 items
  • Regularly check whether pages are still up to date and update outdated content
  • Use the duplicate function to quickly create similar pages
  • Always set a meta title and description for better SEO
